We were there for opening rounds of the AVP Tour, kicking off in Huntington Beach, CA. This is the main event in Southern California, as I can’t speak for other parts of the country. However some of the very best beach ballers that have competed in So Cal, are on the AVP Tour. Along with the best of the best from around the nation. We were able to catch quite a few on this opening day, on a strange weather day in May 2024. Typical for this month, this year, with overcast mornings and hot late afternoons.

We were there for the return of Julia Scoles, after recovering from off season surgery. Pretty inspiring to see her competing as if nothing had happened at all. Same bounce, and power – teamed up with Betsi Flint, to take on Teegan Van Gunst and Kimberly Hildreth. Emerging from the match with a 2-0 victory would be Flint and Scoles.
Next up, former USC and LSU stand outs, have been on a tear in international play. They came in clicking, looking prepared to win the weekend. Hailey Harward and Kylie Deberg, take on 2023 volleyballmag Rookie of the year Megan J. Rice & Brooke Bauer, currently assistant coach at FSU. Bauer and Rice had a great 2023 AVP Tour. This was a fun match to watch.
