The Fall Beach Volleyball season in 2023 has been pretty exciting. We were there for a few tournaments, including the Surf City Challenge in Huntington Beach. Many photo highlights have been posted to our social media. But full photo galleries of these matches are on their way to our website soon. Sometimes it’s faster to get images up onto our Instagram or Facebook. Continuing to work on getting full galleries up faster in the future. Your support of our website can help make that possible. Go to our Support page, donate any amount you’d like.Â
The ‘Relentless’ tournament was absolutely relentless. A whole lot of volleyball was being played, on courts going both directions. Schools that were competing included USC, Pepperdine, LMU, Boise State, San Jose State, Long Beach State, Texas, Arizona State and Arizona. Cal Poly, UC Davis, Concordia, and a couple pairs from Santa Clara, & Saint Mary’s also competed in the 2 day tournament. Several pairs would qualify for the AVCA National Pairs Championship, that was held this past weekend, in Huntsville, Alabama.
More Fall Ball highlights from Huntington Beach, Surf City Challenge 2023
Beach Volleyball continues to grow. Great turn out of fans to support the athletes. Several of which may one day compete in the Olympics. The fall is really like a ‘preseason’ for new players to build chemistry with new partners. It gives coaches a chance to try out new pairings, to see what their players need to work on. But you wouldn’t know it, watching the competition. Everyone’s game face was on. No one wanted to lose.
That was the case in Manhattan Beach, about a week before Relentless – the 2023 So Cal Challenge –
LMU and USC were on the sand with LBSU, UCLA, Stanford, TCU, Grand Canyon, Cal, Pepperdine, Hawaii and Washington! You can find more highlights on our facebook, and our Instagram.
More galleries from this 3 day weekend are on the way. Already we posted part 1 of the showdown between Lexy Denaburg & Peri Brennan (UCLA) taking on Xolani Hodel & Brooke Rockwell (Stanford). Â Check back soon for the conclusion of that match!
